Our Lives Won’t Sound the Same: Honoring George Ralph Parten
A Life of Faith and Strength: George Ralph Parten

If you knew Ralph Parten, you knew what steady looked like.
Ralph, 78, passed into his Heavenly home on May 8, with Diane and his daughters close by. He was a man of faith and strength and conviction—banker by trade, trucker by grit, Guardsman by duty, and choir bass by joy.
For more than three decades he helped steer the Bank of York, then built Parten Truck Lines from the driver’s seat in 1988. He brought that same clear-eyed leadership to ICMA and to The Sound of Small Town America, but he’d be the first to tell you his real work happened at the dinner table and in the church pew.
Ralph’s faith had fingerprints. It was in the deacon meetings he led, the bass notes he held, and the way he showed up for people when it wasn’t convenient. His love language was dependability.
He leaves a legacy in Diane, his bride; in Rhonda, Carrie, Mandy, and Monica; in six grandkids who knew his lap was safe; in brothers Joe and Jim; and in a community that felt his handshake and trusted his word.
The roads he drove, the hymns he sang, and the family he cherished all tell the same story: Ralph loved big, served well, and finished strong.
Our lives won’t sound quite the same without him.
